Romantic Love Letter written by Charlotte Bronte
A Romantic Love Letter written by Charlotte Bronte(1816 - 1855) to Professor Constantin Heger.
It is believed that this romantic love letter was written January 8th 1845
Monsieur, the poor have not need of much to sustain them — they ask only for the crumbs that fall from the rich man's table. But if they are refused the crumbs they die of hunger. Nor do I, either, need much affection from those I love.
I should not know what to do with a friendship entire and complete — I am not used to it. But you showed me of yore a little interest, when I was your pupil in Brussels, and I hold on to the maintenance of that little interest — I hold on to it as I would hold on to life.

Charlotte Bronte (1816 - 1855) was born in Thornton, a small estate almost in the centre of Bradford in the West Yorkshire England. Four years later her father, Patrick Brontë, a clergyman with very Evangelical Christian views, became the curate of the nearby town of Haworth where the Brontë family were to live for the rest of their lives. It was whilst living here that Charlotte Bronte wrote the books and poems for which she became famous including Jane Eyre.
This letter was written by Charlotte to Professor Constantin Heger with whom she had studied briefly however unfortunely for her there is no suggestion in any literature from that time that he ever returned any of the love shown to him by Charlotte.
