The problem is that there are different versions of history depending on the point of view of the historian writer. Some will come to one conclusion about actions and thoughts one way and others using a different source will report their research or gossip in another. We can’t be 100% certain of anything after this length of time but I would not disagree with your statement.

I think I absolutely know what I would do. If you love the woman, the love becomes part of your living…it is one soul lining in two bodies, and she has shown all the qualities of being a good friend, a good companion, a good confidant, a good partner, a good lover in intimacy and very romantic at every chance you get…then the tenderness of love, the feelings you share begs you to think of her as a plant bearing roses of love. It must be kept alive and nourished. If I was in such a condition as John Keats, I would look back atll the joy she has given you, all the brauty of life she has exposed to you, then purely out of love I would like John to give her that chance to start a new chapter in her life. Because his life is short and the pain on her will be so strong that she may shut herself off from living her life. He should bless her, let her know that she would always be in his heart but he wants her to move on….keep living the life which he cannot do for long…….I know how this works!

Marquis was actually not one of her lovers nor was this a romantic letter. Marquis was a young naive man and very inexperienced in matters of love. Ninon was corresponding with him to provide insight and instruction as he was deperately in love with a countess.
